Paul received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1994 and obtained his Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University School of Law (formerly Thomas M. Cooley School of Law) in 2003. He was a member of the Missouri (2004) and Arizona (2016) Bar.
He began his legal career as prosecutor in St. Louis County, MO, worked in private practice in Waynesville, MO., founded McMahon Legal Services, LLC and McMahon Mediation Services LLC in Rolla, MO. and at the time of his death, was an Attorney for the Juvenile Office in the 25th Judicial Circuit - Juvenile Division in Rolla, MO. He recently discovered a love for teaching and was an adjunct professor at Columbia College in Rolla, MO and Drury University at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
Paul was active in his community and supported numerous organizations with his time and money. He served as Vice- President of the Optimist Club of Rolla and the Rolla Public Library Board. He was a Lifetime Member of the Missouri Association of State Troopers Emergency Relief Society (MASTERS), an organization supporting fallen troopers families in time of need. He was also active in local politics, running for Rolla Prosecutor and Municipal Judge.
Paul was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Blues fan and often travelled to St. Louis to support his sports teams.
Paul was preceded in death by David A. McMahon (father) and Marian McMahon (nee Sheehan), (mother); maternal grand-parents Daniel F. Sheehan and Bernice Sheehan (Dunn); paternal grandparents Joseph Francis McMahon and Mary Ruth McMahon (Clarkson). He is survived by his maternal aunts Joan Sheehan and Patricia Eggmann of St. Louis, MO; brothers and nieces/nephews David A. McMahon, (Emily and Molly McMahon); Michael P. McMahon (Jody), (Caroline and Joseph McMahon); John F. McMahon (Jennifer), (Claire, Rachel and Sean McMahon); sisters and nephews/nieces Theresa B. Williams (Bruce), (Lucie, Tim, Haley, Colin and Joe Williams); and Mary Anne Hughes (Terry), (Elise, Grace and Thomas Hughes).
Paul loved to travel and had been to many corners of the globe: Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Ecuador, Chile, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, just to name a few. He recently returned from Korea, Philippines and China, where he climbed the Great Wall.
Services: A celebration and remembrance of Paul's life will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 at Just a Taste, 200 N. Jefferson, St. James, MO. from 7-9 p.m. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, 401 S. Lindbergh, Creve Coeur, MO on October 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception in the Parish Life Center. A private interment at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. is planned.
