Rick and his older siblings, Judy (Arthur) Ginsberg and Mike Imergoot, had a childhood filled with fun and laughter, with their parents, David and Mari (Chait), always surrounding them with love and attention. Rick came into the world with a shock of red hair and a smile on his face and was always a treat to be around. Judy and her friends made him their own baby doll, dressing him up and rolling him around in their toy stroller. With Mike, Rick shared a love of baseball, becoming the mascot for the Nusach Hari little league team and curating an encyclopedic recall of baseball records and stats. He and Mike were best friends, quoting every line from every episode of the Three Stooges to each other. And, with his dad as leader, he was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout, always ready for an adventure.
After graduating from Clayton High School, Rick hit the ground running in his sales career. First up was working with his father and brother-in-law at National Shirt Shops. Then he moved on to sales management positions with Boyd’s and Burlington Coat Factory. Rick may be best remembered, however, on the sales floor for Laurie’s Shoes, introducing kids and adults alike to the joys of a well-fitting pair of shoes.
Rick sold many things in his life, but his greatest product was himself. He had friends since grade school and became a friend to everyone he met. Known for his kindness, gentle nature, and a wonderful smile, Rick was simply a good guy. He will be warmly remembered by his siblings Judy and Mike, his nieces and nephews, Lawrence, Abbie, Carrie, Jennifer, Doug, Erica, and Molly, his great nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends.
His memory will forever be a blessing.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, at 1 PM at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, 650 White Rd. in Chesterfield.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests donations be made in Rick’s name to the charity of your choosing.
