Robert Downey

Robert Anthony Downey, a beloved friend and family man passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on April 1, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Forrest Downey and Agnus Mavers Downey.

Robert was a devoted husband to the late Opal Virginia (Drake) Downey and a loving father to Terri Downey, Eugene Downey, Sam Downey, Robert Downey, Pauline Downey, Joe Downey, Danny Downey, Michael Anthony Stovall, and the late Kevin Downey. He was also a dear stepfather to Randy Drennen and Allen Drennen.

As a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, Robert had a profound impact on his family. He was a loving brother to Richard Downey, Ardell Schenk and Mary Chauestudey, and while other siblings had preceded him in death, his legacy lived on through his enduring influence.

Robert’s passions extended beyond his professional life. He had a deep appreciation for antique model cars, old cars, and long car rides. He also enjoyed watching old Western movies, with John Wayne being his favorite actor.

Robert Anthony Downey’s life was a testament to his love for his family, his passion for cars, and his appreciation for classic cinema. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125, US, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 pm, Interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery immediately following.
