Robert (Bob) J. Levin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025 at the age of 96. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Dotty) Kerman Levin and they had just celebrated their 73rd anniversary on July 20, 2025 surrounded by their family.
Bob was born to Julius and Florence Levin in 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean war. He flew on 100 missions. His role was surveillance. He also participated in the Honor Flight. During his service, he met his future bride, Dotty, when he was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood and visiting a cousin in St. Louis on weekends. They both attended a dance at the J and it was love at first sight for both of them. They were married during the war and settled in St. Louis afterwards, Dotty’s hometown, where Bob worked in her family’s fixture manufacturing business. He eventually took over as President of what became known as Cubicon Corporation.
Bob sold the business in 1996 and he and Dotty retired to Florida for 28 years. They relocated to St. Louis and the Gatesworth retirement home 1 year ago.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dotty, their daughter Teri Levin Kraushaar (Scott Bell), grandsons Brent Kraushaar (Maggie) and Eric Kraushaar (Christine), and 5 great-grandchildren: Cameron Kraushaar, Quinn Kraushaar, Eloise Kraushaar, Charles Kraushaar and Henry Kraushaar, dear brother of the late Frances Wexler (late Leonard); dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Bob was sort of a Renaissance man with so many varied interests. His vast technical knowledge led him to build computers and even a TV. He was an avid photographer that began with a darkroom in the basement of his home and led to thousands of photos, slides and then digital images. He also sculpted beautiful figurines. He loved golf, investing, reading, cooking and storytelling. And he and Dotty traveled all over the world.
May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him. His infectious smile, grin and sparkling big green eyes will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 3 at 1:30 pm at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery, 9125 Ladue Road. A reception will begin at 3 pm at the Gatesworth retirement home, 1 McKnight Place. Memorial contributions preferred to the Missouri Botanical Garden, 4344 Shaw Blvd, St. Louis, MO.
