He was born on April 15, 1941, in St. Louis, to the late Lawrence and Marie "Betty" Thorn; beloved husband of Edna "Dolly" Thorn.
Loving father of Steven (Bev) and Cristine (Scott) Ferguson; loving grandfather of Reese and Ryleigh Kate Ferguson.
Dear brother of Donald (Joan) Thorn and Cheryl Marie (David) Linneman.
Dear uncle of Tim (Angie) Thorn, Lori (David) Crutchley and Shawna Davinroy;
dear great uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Rod was known for a time as the Tomato Man of South County. He loved growing tomatoes, woodworking, and building workbenches.
Rod built over 300 workbenches and sold them throughout Missouri and Illinois.
He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed vacationing in Branson.
Visitation for Rod will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 4-8 pm at the Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63125.
Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 2, 2024,10:30 am in the funeral home chapel.
