Ronald Scott, age 76, of St. Charles, Missouri, was baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection on Monday, May 11, 2026. Born on May 16, 1949, in St. Louis, he was the beloved husband of Joan (Barberis) Scott, his bride of 53 years; cherished brother of Roger Scott (Barbara) of Olivette, Mo., Ray Scott and Randy Scott, both of Overland, Mo., Marcia Bax of Maryland Heights, Mo., Marti Gore of St. Charles, Mo., Margie Ess (Kevin) of St. Charles, Mo., and Mary Killmade (Tom) of Labadie, Mo. and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Robert L. and Marcella (Betz) Scott, and his brothers Robert Scott and Richard Scott.
Ron was a 1967 graduate of Ritenour High School in Overland, Mo., and a 1971 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Ron was a devoted advertising man, having spent over 32 years with The Washington Missourian in Washington, Missouri, The St. Louis Globe-Democrat and The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. After retirement, he and Joan explored the country in their RV, which they affectionately named "Philly." Ron enjoyed spending time with Joan, playing golf, winning board games, and telling grand (and sometimes accurate) stories. His laugh was infectious, and he kept his sense of humor even when ailments took his mobility and sight. During this season of darkness, he enjoyed talking with family, friends, and visitors and listening to music (mostly The Beatles), St. Louis Cardinals ball games, and the birds while enjoying the warmth of the sunshine. Ron was never shy about telling family and friends how much he loved them and will be remembered for his generous hugs.
