Steven Richard O'Hara, affectionately known as "Steve," was born on February 20, 1959, and passed away on April 3, 2024 at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, Steve's life was characterized by dedication, service, and passion.
After proudly serving his country for over 20 years in the United States Air Force, Steve retired from the military at Scott Air Force Base in 2001. His years of service exemplified honor and commitment in all his endeavors.
Beyond his military service, Steve was known for his exceptional talent on the bowling lanes. A skilled and passionate bowler, he delighted in the sport's camaraderie and competition. Whether participating in leagues or casual games with friends and family, Steve's bowling prowess was admired by all who knew him.
In addition to his love for bowling, Steve was very tech-oriented and enjoyed computer-related tasks and projects. His curiosity and enthusiasm for technology were evident in his lifelong pursuit of knowledge and innovation.
Steve was also a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs for years, faithfully supporting his favorite team through every triumph and challenges.
Above all, Steve treasured his family. He was a devoted husband to Tammy O'Hara for 36 years and a loving father to Jennifer Johnson, Steven O'Hara, and Christopher O'Hara. He welcomed his son-in-law Wesley Johnson with open arms and took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Wyatt and Leo, finding joy in their presence.
Steve's quick wit endeared him to all who knew him. He had a gift for quick rebuttals and a contagious sense of humor.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Hooks, and step-father, Roy Hooks, whom he held dear in his heart.
His family will have a private memorial gathering, but extends the invitation to join them at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for a graveside service with military send-off on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 1:30 pm. Friends may join the family at the Funeral Home at 12:30 for the procession to Jefferson Barracks, or they may meet at Jefferson Barracks for the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the St. Louis Samoyed Rescue or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Steve's memory.
