March 11, 1938 – February 8, 2025
It is with deep sadness we acknowledge the passing of Dr. Stuart Michael Orgel (aka Dr. Mike), a devoted physician, Air Force veteran, and cherished family member.
Born in St. Louis Missouri, Dr. Mike dedicated his life to the service of others, both in the medical field and in the defense of his country. Captain Orgel (USAF) served as a flight surgeon with the 807th Medical Group at March Air Force Base.
Following his service in the military, Michael continued his passion for healing as a physician in St. Louis, where he became a trusted and beloved member of the community. Known for his unwavering dedication to his patients, his kindness, and his wisdom, he touched countless lives both in and out of the hospital.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, he had a deep love for flying model airplanes, cycling, jazz music, tinkering in his basement and family gatherings. Michael had a sharp sense of humor, and an unshakable commitment to his family.
Dr. Michael Orgel (son of the late Norman and Marjorie Orgel) is survived by his wife Kathy Orgel; his children - Jeff Orgel, Jennifer Orgel Tompras (Nick Tompras), Samantha Winkler (Erik Winkler), Robert Orgel (Basma Orgel); his grandchildren - Elliot, Benjamin and Laine Tompras, Sophia Orgel, Caden and Olivia Winkler, Alexandria and Adeline Orgel; his sisters - Suzy Wahl (David Wahl), Alexandra Moses, Laurie Orgel (Aaron Roberts); and a host of extended family, friends, and colleagues who will forever cherish his memory.
On February 18, 2025, a viewing will be held at Hoffmeister South County Chapel 11:00am-1:00pm, followed by Military Funeral Honors and committal service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
