Violet Marie Huey

Violet M. Huey, age 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025. Born in Lourdes, Iowa, Violet was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond and Audrey Nibaur. She received her early education at Our Lady of Lourdes School and later graduated from Mount St. Clare Academy in Clinton, Iowa. Following her passion for caregiving, she became a registered nurse, graduating from the Little Company of Mary School of Nursing in Chicago in 1958.

Violet dedicated her life to the service of others, both personally and professionally. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing at various nursing homes, where she provided compassionate care and leadership.

Formerly of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Violet was a beloved and active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where she joyfully served as Music Director for many years. Her love for music and ministry left a lasting impact on the parish community.

Violet was the beloved wife of more than 52 years to the late Dr. Larry C. Huey, DDS. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. She was a devoted mother to Steven (Krystal) Huey, Pamela (Edward) Coll, Julie Huey, Susan (Michael – Colonel, Retired) Hummel, and Christopher Huey; a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren; and a doting great-grandmother to three, with another expected in May.

She is also survived by her dear brother Francis (Peggy) Nibaur, preceded in death by her cherished sister Rosella (Jack) Walters, and by her loving husband, Larry.

Violet led by example—greeting every stranger with a warm smile, and often, a heartfelt hug. She believed in the power of kindness, the strength of a positive story, and the healing nature of a caring embrace. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her generosity, her joy, and her unwavering faith.

There will be a memorial mass scheduled for Friday, July 18 at 11:30 am at Saint Peter's Parish, 815 E. Meyer Blvd. Kansas City, MO

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
