March 2, 1988 – August 22, 2026
William Joseph "Bill" Houchin passed away August 22, 2026, at the age of 38, after facing cancer with remarkable courage. He is the beloved son of Barbara Houchin and the late Rodney T. Houchin; loving brother of Bob (Lindsay); cherished uncle of Bobby and Johnny; dear nephew, cousin, and friend.
Bill was born and raised in south St. Louis. Quiet by nature, he gave his loyalty completely once it was given, and there was nothing he would not do for the people he loved. He was a devoted gamer, a passionate student of severe weather, and an encyclopedic lover of film. Bill was a lifelong Mizzou and Cardinals fan, and some of his happiest days were spent tailgating at Faurot Field with his brother.
His greatest joy was his nephews. Bill chose and wrapped their Christmas and birthday presents months in advance, and every gift came with a story he could not wait to tell.
Nothing in the world made him happier than watching them tear into them.
In his final months, Bill met every challenge with a quiet determination that astonished all who knew him. Through it all, his concern was never for himself but always for his mother, his brother, and his nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney T. Houchin, and his grandparents, Vernon T. and Marie Houchin.
A Mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 27, 2026, at St. Catherine Labouré Catholic Church, 9740 Sappington Road. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Services will be private, with the family gathering to remember Bill among those closest to him.
Arrangements are in the care of Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road. Please share memories and offer condolences at hoffmeistersouthcounty.com.
