William Michael Wilcox

Beloved husband to the late Jackie Gibson Wilcox and the late Jane Bell Wilcox; dear father of Tom (Lou Ann), Mary Zink (Ted), Joan Herman (Dean Muell), Tim (Lisa), Jefferie Caito (John), Patricia Drake (the late Bill) and Michael (Carmen); loving grandfather to 19 and great grandfather to 16; brother to the late Sister Jane Wilcox S.L., Sister Rosemary Wilcox S.L., and Rev. C. Thomas Wilcox M.M.; brother-in-law to the late Winifred Cooper and William Gibson. He also will be remembered by Mary Grace Huber (Dan), Maria Bell, Alan Bell, Suzanne Deatherage (Jerry), Laura Horan (Dan), and their children and grandchildren.

Bill was born on February 24, 1931, and was raised in north St. Louis, attending Sacred Heart grade school. He graduated from DeAndreis high school and Saint Louis University.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran from 1951 - 1955, Bill served his active duty aboard the USS Des Moines CA-134. His career was in investments, beginning in municipal bond sales at Mercantile Bank and then a long-running work partnership with Clark Cox and others initially at The Harris Trust; then the Heitner Corporation. After that he started another work partnership with Richard Fischer as an investment advisor with Oppenheimer & Co., Inc. and Baird Wealth Management Inc., finally retiring in his mid-eighties.

His life’s focus was on his faith, his family, his work and his friends (of which he had many from the old north St. Louis neighborhood to business colleagues to fellow parishioners to neighbors and anyone he met almost anywhere). He enjoyed his Bombay gin.

Services: Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 28, at Mary Queen of Peace, 676 W. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves. Burial following at Resurrection Cemetery.
