

ST. MARTINVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Anna Rae Segura Peltier, age 80, at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Douglas Courville will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michaels Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home, 415 East Bridge St., on Monday from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm, with the rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 8:00 am until services.
Mrs. Peltier was born June 1, 1929 in New Iberia to Jack and Marie Melancon Segura, and passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Belle Teche Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Many will remember Mrs. Ann Rae from the 25 years of service as the bookmobile driver with the St. Martin Parish Library. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and was also very active with the Home Demonstration Club in St. Martinville and loved the many trips they took throughout the country.
Mrs. Anna Rae enjoyed cross stitching and cross word puzzles, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister and friend and leaves behind many fond memories. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Julie Peltier Champeaux and husband Donnie Champeaux of St. Martinville, and Karl Peltier and wife Beverly Desormeaux Peltier of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Mary Catherine Champeaux Hebert and husband Kory Hebert of the Woodlands, TX, Chris J. Champeaux and wife Cherie Wetzel Champeaux of St. Martinville; Tiffany Peltier Thibodeaux and husband Jason Thibodeaux, Scott Peltier, and Sean Peltier all of New Iberia; four great grandchildren, Andrew Hebert, Sophie Claire Hebert, Carson Thibodeaux and Jase Thibodeaux; her sister, Sonja Segura Saddler and husband Jimmy of Alabama; two brothers, Johnny Segura and wife Jerrie of Metairie and Jackie Segura and wife Margaret of St. Martinville; and a step-brother, Kenneth Thibodeaux and wife Jeanette of St. Martinville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldren J. Peltier; mother, Marie Melancon Segura; father and step mother, Jack Segura and Lena Romero Segura; and her brothers, Paul “Riv” Segura, Bracy Segura, and Alife “DeDa” Segura.
Pallbearers will be Scott and Sean Peltier, Chris Champeaux, Kory Hebert, Jackie Segura and Jason Thibodeaux. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Segura and Jimmy Saddler.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Peltier’s name to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion St. Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70501.
