It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Egbert Domingue, Jr., a devoted husband, cherished father, beloved grandfather, loyal brother, and dear friend to many. Egbert passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on March 13, 1938, in St. Martinville, Louisiana to the late Egbert and Amelina Boutte Domingue, Sr. Egbert was one of ten children in a close-knit and hardworking family. From an early age, he understood the value of dedication and responsibility, supporting his loved ones through both his strength of character and unwavering work ethic.
He built a life rooted in hard work, humility, and love. Over the years, he worked in construction, as a boat captain, and later as a welder’s fitter at Gulf Craft, where he spent many years and earned the respect of those around him. His hands were rarely idle, and his heart was always full.
Though quiet in nature, Egbert found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved the outdoors—whether it was hunting in the woods or casting a line into his favorite fishing spot, there was no place he felt more at peace. Fishing, in particular, became his favorite pastime, offering him not just relaxation, but cherished moments with family and friends.
He was also an animal lover and found joy and comfort in the companionship of his cherished fur babies.
Survivors include his children, Gerald Domingue and wife Gail; Egbert Domingue, III; Anna Domingue and Larry Domingue; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and he was to become a great- great grandfather in November. He is also survived by his siblings, Nelda Charpentier, Henry Domingue, Calvin Domingue and Clifton Domingue.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Smith Domingue; his daughter, Priscilla Domingue; his grandson, John Domingue; two sisters, Bertha Kelley and Joyce Barras and three brothers, Audrassie, Roland and Russell Domingue.
