Gail Frances Marretta

Gail Frances Maretta, our beloved aunt and cousin, passed away peacefully September 21, 2026, at Pelican Pointe in Maurice, just six months after the passing of her only sister Katherine "Kat" Grenon. She was 86. Gail was born to the late Anthony "Tony" Marretta and the late Rose Foti Marretta.

She was a proud graduate of St. Martinville High School, Class of 1958. Gail was a licensed florist for many years in St. Martinville, where she shared her talent and creativity by providing beautiful, fresh arrangements to her many loyal customers.

Family was at the heart of Gail’s life. She had a generous spirit and was always doing for others, giving freely of her time and her heart to make certain those she loved were cared for. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her kindness, her loving nature, and the many ways she made others feel special.

Gail was also a wonderful cook, and her family fondly remembers the delicious Italian dishes she prepared from scratch. Her meatballs and sauce were especially treasured. If you were privileged enough to sit at Gail’s table, you were sure to leave with a full stomach, a happy heart, and a smile on your face.

Those left to cherish Gail’s memory include her nephew, Paul Grenon, Jr. and wife, Michelle; and their daughters, Mikayla Grenon and Hailey Grenon; and numerous cousins who loved her dearly.

Funeral services celebrating Gail’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Evangeline Funeral Home, with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Gail will be laid to rest privately with her beloved sister, Kat, at St. Michael’s Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:15 a.m.
