Glenda Vincent Bernis, our incredible mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2023. At her passing, she was 81. Glenda was born on July 26, 1942 in Loreauville, LA to the late Raymond Joseph and Cecile Broussard Vincent and was one of three daughters.
Glenda was an incredible individual, who was always willing to listen to her family and friends and give them just the right advice. She absolutely adored her family and was a very compassionate prayer warrior for them. As her children reminisced of all the family holiday gatherings, especially Christmas, their hearts will forever remain filled with wonderful memories that will be cherished forever.
She enjoyed time outdoors, tending to her plants, playing golf with her husband at Spanish Trail Golf Club, and traveling.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Branan B. Bernis, Jr.; Cherie Bernis and Janet Bernis Theriot and husband Kevin; her daughter in law, Jill Bernis Sopko; eight grandchildren, Branan B. Bernis, III; Charlie Bernis; Cody Champagne; Caitlin Champagne; Beau Bernis; Reece Theriot and wife Maegan; Arrie Broussard and husband John and Kyle Bernis and wife Renetta and eleven great grandchildren, Jaxon Bernis, Caisen Champagne, Cayden Arnaud, Branan Wilder Bernis, Lennon Bernis, John Luke Theriot, Thomas Theriot, Vance Broussard, Leo Broussard, Jones Bernis and Donte Bernis.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Branan Bernard Bernis; one son, Kevin Bernis and two sisters, Janelle Molbert and Brenda Landry.
A Funeral Service celebrating Glenda’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Evangeline Funeral Home in St. Martinville, with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. She will be laid to rest at St. Michael’s Cemetery privately at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 12 from 9:00 am until time of service at Evangeline Funeral Home.
