Mr. Joseph Murphy "Coon" Broussard Sr.

COTEAU HOLMES – Funeral Services will be conducted for Joseph Murphy “Coon” Broussard, Sr., age 78, at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Coteau Holmes Full Gospel Church with Brother Michael Robicheaux officiating. Interment will be held at Coteau Holmes Full Gospel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm on Monday until service time on Tuesday at Coteau Holmes Full Gospel Church. A native of St. Martin Parish and resident of Coteau Holmes, Mr. Broussard passed away at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Iberia Medical Center.

Mr. Broussard was employed in the oilfield industry for more than 35 years and served on the Police Jury for eight years. Brother Coon as he was affectionately known served as the Associate Pastor at Coteau Holmes Full Gospel Church.

Mr. Broussard is survived by his four children, Kathy B. Robicheaux and her husband Michael Robicheaux; Louis Broussard and Horace Broussard and his wife Leslie all of Coteau Holmes and Kurt Broussard of Baskin, LA. He is also survived by his daughter in law, Theresa Broussard of Coteau Holmes; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one sister, Rita Mae B. Burgess of Charenton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Pennison Broussard, one son, Joseph M. Broussard, Jr.; parents, Desire & Ernestine Boudreaux Broussard; and one brother, Burton Broussard.

Pallbearers will be Michael Robicheaux, Jr., Joshua Broussard, Jacob Broussard, Louis Broussard, Jr., Jerod Robin, Matthew Guidry and Terry Broussard.

My family just infomred me of Coon's death. I am so sorry that I did not know in time to attend his funeral. I wish I had kept in better touch with him. He was very special to me. God be with all of you during this sad time.

Bro. Coon was like a grandfather to me. I remember the good times we had sitting and talking at the kitchen table with him after church every Sunday. Now he is sitting at a bigger table!
