ST MARTINVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Lana Quebedeaux Blanchard, age 66, at 1:00 pm Monday November 18, 2013 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Fr. Rusty P. Richard will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville on Sunday from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Monday from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm.
Lana was born July 9, 1947 in St. Martinville, Louisiana to the late Wilfred Quebedeaux and Esmay Molbert Quebedeaux, and was one of five children. She passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2013 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Lana was a homemaker who lived her life for the love and care of her family. Some of her pastimes included shopping and playing cards. But she loved dancing and singing with family and friends. Her beautiful smile and kind heart will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her companion of 16 years, LeRoy Bonin of St. Martinville; her children, Michael Schouest, II and wife Connie of Coteau, Leland Schouest and wife Annette of St. Martinville, Kevin Picard and wife Holly of St. Martinville, Karen Viator and husband Lance of Houston, TX, Alfred “T.J.” Blanchard and wife Teah of New Iberia, Gabrielle Noel and husband Todd of Breaux Bridge, and Lainey Wellbrock and husband Jason of New Iberia; 14 grandchildren, Michael Schouest, III, Nicolas Schouest, Amanda Schouest, Shayli Schouest, Amber Richard, Leland “Lee” Schouest, Jr., Brittany Schouest, Seth Schouest, Kevin Picard, II, Tyler Viator, Whitney Viator, Peyton Blanchard, Landon Blanchard, and Kynnedi Noel; 4 great grandchildren, Cole Schouest, Brennon Schouest, Braelyn Schouest, and Aden Delahoussaye; and her sister and brother, Chris Broussard of St. Martinville and Joey Quebedeaux and wife Gail of Parks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Esmay Molbert Quebedeaux; and her sisters, Sheryl Pelous and Vickie Quebedeaux.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael, Nicolas, Lee, Seth, Kevin, and Tyler. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, Lance Viator, Todd Noel, and Jason Wellbrock.
