Born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York, Tony lived a life defined by curiosity, charisma, and an unrelenting passion for discovery.
Tony was a fun-loving, caring, and intelligent man whose zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He shared an extraordinary bond with his beloved wife, Justine “Tina” (Rosey) Schultz. Together, they explored the world through 24 cruises to countless destinations, immersing themselves in different cultures and collecting memories that enriched their lives and those around them. Their love story was one of deep connection and enduring devotion—a rare and beautiful partnership that many only dream of.
To describe Tony as simply “cool” would be an understatement. He exuded a magnetic charm that was both bombastic and smooth—equal parts Fonz and Dean Martin. His charisma was infectious, drawing people in effortlessly and turning strangers into lifelong friends. Tony knew everyone, and everyone knew Tony.
But beyond his charm was a man of immense depth and talent—a true virtuoso. Tony didn’t just dabble in hobbies; he mastered them. His love for the sea led him to earn a captain’s license. He took up skin diving but went further to become certified. His travels were not just vacations—they were immersive journeys fueled by his thirst for knowledge. Before every trip, he studied the history, culture, geography, and language of his destination, approaching each adventure as an explorer rather than a tourist.
Photography became a natural extension of his travels. Tony delved into the technical aspects of cameras and film with the same dedication he gave to all his pursuits. He captured the essence of his journeys through vivid images and storytelling that transported friends and family right alongside him. For those who couldn’t travel themselves, Tony’s photographs and narratives offered a window into the world.
His intellectual curiosity also led him to a career in chemistry—a field that satisfied his fascination with how things worked. This scientific mindset translated seamlessly into cooking, where he mastered the delicate balance of flavors through an understanding of chemical reactions. Whether preparing meals inspired by global cuisines or experimenting with new techniques, Tony delighted in sharing his culinary creations with others.
Tony’s talents extended far beyond the kitchen. He was a self-taught “jack of all trades,” generous with his time and advice. A master car mechanic who worked on exotic vehicles, an accomplished electrician, and a skilled carpenter—Tony approached every challenge with determination and precision. Fixing things wasn’t just about repair; it was another way for him to explore the mechanics of the world around him.
He was affectionately known as “Bull”—a nickname that embodied his strength, confidence, and unwavering spirit. In the final chapter of his life, Tony lived up to that name more than ever, facing illness with courage and resilience.
Tony leaves behind his devoted wife Tina; nephew Jeffrey Giles; sister-in-law Loyola “Lola” (Rosey) Schirra; and brother-in-law Michael Schirra. He was predeceased by his sister Constance V. (Schultz) Giles; brother-in-law Myron L. Giles; Father Anthony Schultz Sr.; Mother Anna (Zawislak) Schultz. Father-in-law: Edward Rosey; and Mother-in-law Martha (Dylewska) Rosey.
Tony Schultz lived a remarkable life filled with passion, intellect, adventure, and love—a life few will ever match but many will always remember. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to those who hear his story.
