Carol Sullivan passed away in the comfort of her home on March 20, 2020 at the young age of 95. She was born in Chicago, Illinois where she graduated from the Evangelical Hospital of Chicago School of Nursing as a registered nurse in September 1945. She married Marvin Sullivan November 8, 1945 at Hope Lutheran Church in Chicago and remained together until his passing in 2013. Carol was a devoted military wife who enjoyed the adventures of moving during her husband’s 32-year Air Force career. She and her husband raised four kids, she did it alone during his service in WWII, Korea and Vietnam Wars. Carol worked outside the home and enjoyed entertaining their many friends, bowling, scrabble games and was known for not letting anything stand in the way of a good bridge game. She was generous of heart, loved the fragrance of gardenias, was faithful to her Lutheran church roots and a kind, forgiving mother.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Sullivan (Rebecca) & Dan Sullivan (Denise), daughter Marvi Sullivan Dolgener (Billy). Her daughter in-law Pamela, son Mark Sullivan preceded her in death in 2018. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan & Josh. Michael preceded her in death in 2010. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
Carol touched so many lives in a positive manner during her nursing career as well as being a good friend, neighbor and loved serving her church and especially the kids at the church school.
She was a pillar of family strength that was loved dearly and will be greatly missed, but we are happy she is at home with her Lord and Savior and all of those she has longed to be with again.
She and her husband will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a private family service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Our Savior Lutheran School, 301 58th St. S., St. Petersburg, FL 33707.
