With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Charles Collom - a beloved family man, veteran, loyal friend, and the greatest man we have ever known. Charles leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and love that will continue to live on through everyone lucky enough to have known him.
He was the definition of patriotism, serving his country with unwavering honor, strength, and dedication. A proud Veteran of the United States Army, he carried his love for this nation in everything he did. He believed deeply in the values of freedom, service and sacrifice, and lived those principles every day. The American flag was more than a symbol to him-it was a reflection of his identity, something he honored, respected, and stood for without hesitation. Whether it was through his words, his actions, or the way he carried himself, his patriotism was unmistakable and inspiring to all that knew him.
He was a man of extraordinary generosity, he gave freely-his time, his energy and his kindness, never expecting anything in return. Whether it was making someone laugh, sharing what he had, supporting charities, or simply showing up when it mattered most, he made everyone around him feel valued and cared for.
He had a vibrant social spirit that drew people in effortlessly. He never met a stranger-only friends he hadn't yet made. His presence could light up a room, and his laughter was something you didn't just hear, but felt.
Country music was the soundtrack of his life. It played in the background of countless memories-road trips, celebrations and everything in between. He was an avid NASCAR supporter, with deep love for the sport and its community. He took great pride in his extensive car collection, each one a reflection of his personality and passion.
As the owner of Red, White, and Booze in Pass-a-Grille, you could always find him at his favorite seat at the bar with a Tito's Tonic tall no fruit, bringing people together and sharing his larger-than-life spirit. He poured his heart and soul into transforming the restaurant into a place that became special to so many locals and visitors alike. Charles took immense pride in what he built there, and nothing meant more to him than hearing people thank him for what he had done for the restaurant and the community surrounding it. He loved listening to the stories, compliments, and appreciation from the people who walked through the doors.
He was a devoted husband and shared a deep and loving bond with his wife, Helen. Their love was built on loyalty, laughter and strength. Together, they created a life full of memories, love, friendship, and endless support for one another. Charles adored Helen wholeheartedly, and anyone who knew them could see the love and happiness they shared. Whether spending quiet time together, surrounded by friends and family, or simply enjoying everyday moments side by side. They were truly best friends and partners in every sense of the word. Helen was the center of his world, and the love they shared was one that will continue to live on forever.
His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, the love he gave, and the memories he made will carry on forever. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit remains-in every act of kindness, every note of a country song, and every wave of the flag he loved so dearly.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, admired, respected and never forgotten.
