I will always be grateful for Chuck having enough confidence in me to hire me for my first job as a Learning Handicapped Specialist when he was principal at Stearley Heights Elementary in Okinawa, Japan. Chuck sincerely cared about his staff and students, was always willing to listen to concerns and gave positive feedback. It was a pleasure knowing him and being a member of his staff. He was deeply missed when Millie and he left for Spain.

The family of Charles (Chuck) Lockwood and his loving wife, Millie:
Chuck's passing is devastating to so many people, especially, to my family. We shared so many lovely and fun memories in Germany - (Nuremburg, Heidelberg, Garmisch) Paris, France, as well as the Cape. The wonderful memories will last forever and I am sure Chuck will be forever smiling down on us as we share those memories with one another.
The world - and the DoDEA world - has lost a true professional - a teacher, principal, and superintendent. He had a way with people and instantly put them at ease. He will be remembered as a wonderful, caring, kind, and fun-loving friend, a true family man- (father, grandfather, and great-grandfather), loving spouse to Millie, and pal to George.

Au Revoir dear Chuck, may you rest in peace,

With love,
Dr. Colleen Rohowsky, and daughters - Roxane Mulenex, Maureen Forman

Chuck was so entertaining, but a true Shining Light leader, serving Dodds, Parents, and most of all students. When Ted got out of the Army, Chuck interviewed him for his first full time job at Darmstadt Career Center. He came to Dee's attention through Joan Luczai during "fun times " at Administration gatherings. He served us both as a role model through our admin years. God bless his memory.

Dear Millie and family,

How sad I felt to hear this news .....what a fun, kind, and caring leader/ mentor Chuck was! I cherish the times when we worked together at Stearley Heights ES in Okinawa, and in the Kaiserslautern District when I was a new principal at Vogelweh ES .

Millie, I send all my love and please know that I’m thinking of you. Jill

We want to extend our condolences to Millie and her children Kim, Pam, Chris and Chip on the passing of Chuck. Chuck was an excellent husband, father and grandfather. We have known Millie and Chuck for over 40 years. You could not ask for a better friend, one that we thoroughly enjoyed socializing with over these many years whether at our homes, on the golf course or just at regular get togethers on Okinawa, at the Cape or in Florida.

Chuck was an outstanding educator and just loved working with children of all ages. He had an excellent sense of humor and was a great story teller.

Chuck is gone but will never be forgotten.

All our love to our dear friend, Millie.

To Milley and Family,
I am deeply saddened by your loss. I always enjoyed talking and spending time with Chuck in Okinawa. I did not know him well and basically was introduced by my late wife Barbara Burke. However, I recall conversations I had with him and remember his friendly and outgoing manner. Also, I remember your roasted garlic! May God Bless you and yours always.

Dear Millie and Family, Chuck was certainly highly respected as an educator and administrator. We will sorely miss his smile and easy manner that brought such joy to those DODDS gatherings. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow. “We travel through this world blessed by those we love.” Judy Buffa

Met Chuck in Puerto Rico where we were both
teachers----then we met again in Rota--he was
principal and I was teacher-----again in KAMS
he was principal and I was teacher. We could
discuss school issues and memories from being
in the same locations.
