Christopher Andrew Brown Cardis Christopher was born September 1, 1988 and lost his battle with drug addiction on September 10, 2017, nine days after his 29th birthday. Christopher was living a life of sobriety for 20 months prior to the relapse that ultimately took his life. He was proud of his sobriety and the accomplishments he achieved during that time. He received his one-year recovery medallion on December 15, 2016. Chris graduated from the American Institute of Beauty in February 2017 and earned his barber license on July 24, 2017. Christopher was recently employed by Chago’s Barber Shop, where he had a bright future in making his clients “look awesome”! His plans for the future included marriage, children, and coaching Little League baseball. Chris’ life was taken by addiction but he will be remembered for his wittiness, sarcasm, removing his shirt to flex his biceps, his warm, easy smile, willingness and desire to help others and, most importantly to his mom, his strong, encompassing hugs. Chris gave the best hugs! Chris was a life-long Indiana Pacers and Chicago Cubs fan. Watching the Cubs win the World Series in November 2016 was one of the best days of his life and resulted in a tattoo of the Cubs starting line-up of game 7. Chris was happiest when he was helping others. He was looking forward to passing the state board exam so he could give free haircuts at Turning Point as a way of giving back to society. After leaving the Beacon House (a non-for-profit organization that provides temporary housing for men in need), Chris returned on Wednesday evenings to wash dishes. Leading up to Christmas Day 2016, Chris purchased and solicited items for Christmas packages to be distributed to the homeless. He then spent Christmas Day volunteering at Turning Point. Left behind to cherish Chris’ memory are his mom and step-father Kim and Bill Dennis; brother and sister-in-law Jacob and Katie Cardis; grandparents Floyd (Butch) and Donna Brown; great-grandmother Mary Miller; uncle and namesake Andrew Brown; uncle and aunt Dale and Laura Brown; cousins Autumn Brown, Taylor Brown, and Marianne Nieman; and dear friends Courtney (Barbie) Aiken, and Ana Alicia. Chris also leaves behind his best friend, Billy Tierney; their friendship will never float away. Christopher’s family extends to Indianapolis, Indiana where aunts, uncles and other family members reside.
