

THOMASSON, Donald Scott 68, of St. Petersburg went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 following a tragic plane crash. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, Sept. 5th, 2pm, at The Sirata Beach Resort, 5300 Gulf Boulevard, St. Petersburg Beach, FL 33076. Flowers may be sent to the above address. Don was born Dec. 21, 1945 in Martinsville, VA to George and Jessica Thomasson. He graduated from Hargrave Military Academy and attended Campbell College. Don was an award-winning manufacturers representative within the home furnishings industry. He thoroughly enjoyed flying and was an avid pilot of 45 years. Don was the former president of the Tampa Bay Soaring Club. He spent most of his free time in the air or on the water boating. He loved life, friends and family while always greeting people, as they were already best friends. Don is survived by his children, Scott Thomasson and his wife Jennifer of Lakeland, FL, Eric Thomasson and his wife Andrea of Tampa, Brian Thomasson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Amanda Thomasson Himmelsbach and her husband Jason of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren, Chloe Thomasson and her brother Parker of Lakeland, Sophia and her sister Audrey of Tampa; a brother, George Carroll Thomasson and his wife Paula of Fort Worth, TX; nieces Eliza Holland, Maggie Norris, Ann Thomasson and nephew George Thomasson; Carolyn Thomasson Waters, mother of his children from Charleston, SC and his companion, Kelly Pillon of St. Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Jessica Thomasson.
