George Davison Hoft

At 71 years old, he was a man who truly understood how to nurture the world around him. Whether he was gently tending to his plants, taking care of his yard or walking his faithful fur baby, Mia, George had a gift for helping things thrive. He took immense pride in the details of life, a trait best seen in his immaculate car, which he kept spotless and pristine.

When he wasn’t outdoors or detailing his vehicle, George was the ultimate armchair coach, often with smooth jazz playing in the background.

An avid sports fan, his family swore he could read the field better than anyone on television. He lived for the thrill of football and basketball seasons, regularly calling the plays seconds before the coaches ever drew them up or the refs blew their whistles. He begrudgingly watched all the Wimbledon tennis matches (he secretly loved them)!

For 36 beautiful years, George shared a deep and enduring love with his wife Stefanie. Together they built a vibrant, loving family that was his ultimate pride and joy. He was a steady, devoted father to his son, Stefan (Ashley) and his daughter Jordan (Alex). George’s eyes lit up brightest, however, in his role as papa to Camden who brought an entirely new spark of joy to his life.

George’s life was shaped and enriched by a close-knit circle of family and friends who meant the world to him. Later in life, he shared an unbreakable bond with his best friend Jeff Berman, who was always by his side for life’s great plays.

He also leaves behind his daughter Chloe and grandson Isaac, his dear sister, Sharon (Carl) as well as nephews and niece, Chris, Rusty and Darlene all of whom touched his life deeply and filled it with wonderful memories.

George leaves behind a legacy of quiet devotion, sharp wit and a reminder to always appreciate the growth in our gardens, the soul of a good melody and the excitement of the game.

He will be deeply missed but his story lives on in the hearts of the many people who loved him fiercely.
