I have been thinking about Hugh a lot these past couple of days. All the fun we had with him as kids; tending his chickens, working in his grass cutting business, making soup in the McNulty's kitchen on cold winter days, and being a Boy Scout in Chicago Heights when Hugh was our scoutmaster. In many ways, he was a second dad to us Haynes kids. Long after I had grown up, when the McNultys bought the farm down here in Missouri, Hugh gifted me with 1920's vintage 'home project' book that we used to look at together when I was a kid (actually made the inner tube catapult). It holds an honored place in my library.  I still enjoy browsing the pictures, and I think of him every time I pick it up. So many fond memories. . .

So sorry to hear of Hugh's passing. Remember all the good times.  He was a very caring man, and will be missed. When you think of a kind and gentle man, Hugh comes to mind. I am sure Annette and Hugh will look over all of you left back and some day you all will be reunited.

Hugh and Sheila I am so sorry for your loss, I don't know your dad but I can tell from meeting Hugh that he must have been a great person.  I will be praying for peace for you and your family.

We will miss the times we have spent going out to dinner or just playing cards. But we will always remember a good friend. You will truly be missed Hugh. Enjoy sitting on a lake in haven with Annette next to you. God Bless!

Hugh & Ron raided our grapevines to make 5 gallons of wine. Using Army underwear in a press to squeeze the grapes. The kids picked grapes by the wagon full.. Then the grape peels exploded all over our basemen wall! Just another hair rained idea from Hugh & Ron. We sure had the best neighbors ever!

Hugh and Georgiann joined our family, when our brother Harold and Janet married and our gatherings changed forever. I can not remember a time when we all got together that Hugh did not have a helpful and amazing tip or funny story about life. We still use some of his tips. Some, well many, of them make us chuckle as we remember him.  He was truly a unique and special person. He will definitely live on in our memories. Our deepest condolences to the family.

I remember heading down the street to meet the "new kids on the block." in Olympia Gardens. I was all of 5 years old. It was the beginning of a long and loving friendship with the McNulty Clan. Hugh was a constant in our lives. If we were headed to River View we could count on Hugh to ride the roller coasters with us as frequently as possible. There was fishing, camping and just general fun. If there was mischief to be had Hugh would not be far away and very willing to contribute to any mayhem we were contemplating. We had such a wonderful childhood and Hugh was a major player in all the fun. We will miss him. He was part of our extended family and he was so loved. He was so full of life and lived his life well. A very admirable man in the best sense of the word. We loved him.
