June Walsh, age 82, passed away peacefully at home in Treasure Island, FL. She was born November 13, 1936 to John and Helen (Eberhardt) Mehler. She married Richard D. Walsh III in May of 1960 who preceded her in death in 2010. June was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She was educated at Bishop McMahon High School and never stopped learning, taking college classes throughout her life. She worked as a secretary in Kenmore-Tonawanda NY public schools and ultimately retired as an Executive Assistant from Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA in 1995. June and Dick retired to Florida in 1995 where they enjoyed coastal living and their community at Key Capri. She loved leading exercise class in the pool, talking about football, politics, and books with her grandsons, and enjoying an active lifestyle. She had a quick wit and loved a good laugh. She is the devoted mother of Kevin (Carin) Walsh of Durham, NC, and Kelly Walsh (Steven Matzat) of Cary, NC. Loving grandmother of Jackson Walsh of Chevy Chase, MD and Henry Walsh of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 9th at 11:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in St. Pete Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, Catholic masses said for June would be most appreciated. Alternately, donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude’s Hospital (stjude.org) or the ASPCA (aspca.org).
