Kerry Anne Nugent Flack (78), Seminole, FL passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022. She was the second of nine children, spending her early youth in Tallahassee, FL and later adolescence in the Washington D.C area. She graduated from Regina High School and spent two years at Immaculata College before returning to Florida with her family. She lived 40 years in Tallahassee where she raised her 3 children. Kerry was a dedicated state employee with the Florida Department of Corrections and later Department of Agriculture.
In 2009, she retired to the Tampa Bay area where all her kids reside with their families. Through these years, she doted over her grandchildren, attending school programs and activities, rowing regattas, theater productions, baseball games, volleyball games, and graduations. Her support for her grandchildren was steadfast and she formed a special relationship with each of them. The memories they made will be cherished for a lifetime.
Kerry exemplified hard work, loyalty, acceptance and empathy. Her love was unconditional and humor unmatched. She appreciated a good laugh (even at her own expense), good music and good food (usually not her own). She embraced a long-standing family tradition of never letting the facts get in the way of a good story. We will miss her animated storytelling and debate which portions of her tales might have been “enhanced”.
She led by example. Her children marveled over her love of books and how fast she consumed them. While they rebelled against reading while young, they developed her passion as adults. An avid tennis player through her middle years, her children enjoyed watching her play and had fun on the park playgrounds during her games. Despite the struggles of being a single mother, she always found time to lend support or a sympathetic ear. There was always $5 for the movies or a ride to the fair. She taught us not to dwell on things, but the void she left in our lives will prove challenging.
Kerry is preceded in death by her father Thomas Nugent, mother Margaret (Peg) Nugent as well as two siblings, Jerry Nugent and Mimi Lewis. We know they were waiting with open arms and a party. She is survived by her three kids; Chris Flack (Janie), Shannon Flack Brown (Shaun) and Meghan Flack Schweiss (Russ). She leaves behind five grandkids; Hunter & Julianna Flack, Aidan & Lily Schweiss and Skylar Brown. She is also survived by her six remaining siblings Tom Nugent, T.D. Nugent, Tim Nugent, John Nugent, Pat Nugent Hopkins and Peg Nugent. She also leaves behind many In-laws, nieces and nephews, all of whom she cared for deeply.
She was loved by her family as fiercely as she loved us.
