Lonnie D. Summerton was called home to Heaven on June 19th, 2023. Lonnie was born August 6th, 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1968, he moved with his family to Treasure Island, Florida. He attended Boca Ciega High School. He later went to PTEC where he earned his GED and was certified in HVAC. He worked in many fields including vending machine repair, refrigeration/HVAC maintenance and repair, and he performed salon maintenance and HVAC repairs for all Hair Cuttery Salons on the Central West Coast of Florida. His hobbies included scuba diving, fishing, and traveling. Lon never met a stranger, and he was always helpful and would do anything for anyone just like his father Albert. As an organ donor, Lon's last selfless act was the gift of sight to two people through the organization Central Florida Lions Eye.
Lon is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Cindy; beloved son, Brian; precious granddaughter, Sophia; brother, Michael; half-brother, Larry; half-sister, Linda; nieces, Nicole, Riley, Rachel, brothers/sisters-in-law and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruthann; half-sister, Debbie; grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 30th, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Beach Memorial Chapel, 301 Corey Ave, St. Pete Beach.
Mass will be held on Saturday, July 1st, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 445 82nd Ave, St. Pete Beach.
Lon will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery and Funeral Home, 5750 49th Street N., St. Petersburg.
