Margaret Jean Reilly

Margaret Jean Reilly was born on February 2, 1922 in Manitoba Canada. She came to Detroit ,Michigan where her father, Jack Chyz had work. She arrived on a train with her mother Rose and her three younger brothers. She grew up in Detroit and met Steve Cook on the Boblo Boat. They married soon afterward and honeymooned at Niagara Falls. They moved to Dearborn, Michigan and raised five children – Stephen, Cynthia, Richard, Marcia, and David.

She participated with her children in school , sports and clubs. She was an expert seamstress and made many Halloween costumes, spring coats, and prom dresses along with plenty of her own wardrobe. She loved kids, dogs, singing and dancing , the Church and listening to the Tigers at night on the radio.

She lived in Gulfport, Florida for 40 years and was an active member of Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and the Gulfport Senior Center. She enjoyed many activities and made many friends at Towne Shores.

Her favorite activity was being a grandma to her 14 grandchildren and a great grandma to 15 great grandchildren.

She passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026 at 104 years and eight months old. She was preceded in death by her late husband Stephen Cook and her late husband Bart Reilly. She is survived by her children-Stephen and Patricia Cook, Cynthia and Jim Ziemba, Richard Cook and Cathy Holt, Marcia Cook and David Cook and three stepchildren by Bart Reilly-Greg and Ina Reilly, Sid and Linda Niper and Dave and Renee Ellis.

She will be missed by all who loved her.

A gathering for family and friends will take place at Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 5800 15th Ave S, Gulfport, FL 33707 October 17, 2026 from 10:30 am until 11:00am . Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 5800 15th Ave S, Gulfport, FL 33707 on October 17, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Graveside service will take place at Royal Palm Cemetery South, 101 55th St S, St. Petersburg, FL 33707, US, on October 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
