Throughout his life, Richard called several places home, including Rochester, New York; Chagrin Falls and Stow, Ohio; Roanoke, Texas; and New Bern, North Carolina. Each chapter was part of a life rich in experiences and lasting relationships.
Above all, Richard was a devoted father and a loving grandfather. His children, Sheryl Rice and Bryan Rice, and his daughter-in-law, Jiamjit (Aoy) Seedang, his granddaughters, Leah and Abigail Rice, brought him great joy and were a cherished part of his life.
Richard felt especially blessed to have shared his life with his beloved wife, JoAnn Rice, who passed before him. Their life together was a treasured part of his story, and her memory remained an enduring part of his life.
Richard will be remembered for his love of family, his pride in serving his country, and the deep appreciation he had for the life he lived and the people who made it meaningful. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the memories they will carry with them.
A service will take place in New Bern, North Carolina, with immediate family only.
