

On the morning of June 26, 2014, Ruth passed away at Northside hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was eighty-five years old.
Ruth McCall was born in Florence, South Carolina on January 05, 1929. She was the only child born to Marion Napier McCall and Ruth Cole McCall. Ruth’s father died when she was a child and shortly thereafter the family moved to the grandparent’s estate in the country. The house was a large two story home with 11 rooms and a large wrap-around porch with two swings on each side. Ruth would often recount fond memories of the time spent on the swings and adventures on the surrounding farm.
Ruth attended the local schools and graduated from McClenaghan High School on May 31, 1946. Ruth continued her education at Coker College obtaining her BA on May 28, 1951. Ruth continued taking education classes at Clemson College. Ruth married Harold A. Hudson Sr. in Bishopville, S.C. on Valentine’s Day in February 1952 and together raised four children. Both Ruth and Harold worked in the public school system of Columbia, South Carolina. In the early 1960’s the family moved to St. Petersburg Fl., where they both continued to work for the school system. Ruth continued her education at USF and obtained her Master’s degree on March 20, 1969. Ruth worked as a science teacher and then guidance counselor in several Pinellas County schools. Ruth retired from PTEC in 1994.
Ruth loved singing and the outdoors. Camping, visiting zoos, State Parks, National Parks and Historic Sites was her passion. After retirement Ruth and Harold spent extended periods of time in their RV exploring America. Ruth was a devout Christian throughout her life and attended Pasadena Presbyterian and then Rio Vista Presbyterian Church.
Ruth Hudson is survived by her four children and their spouses, five grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren: Harold "Hal" Albert Hudson Jr., his wife Diana Hudson, Marion E. (Hudson) Cicle, her two children Nathan L. Cicle and Shannon S. Cicle, Laura Lee (Hudson) Angelelli, her husband Frank M. Angelelli, their children Michele (Angelelli) Roberson, her husband Ray Roberson and son (great grandson) Hunter Roberson, and Christa (Angelelli) Lynche, her husband Michael Q. Lynche and their children (great grandchildren) Laila R. Lynche and Kingston M. Lynche. Earnest Cole Hudson, his wife Carole (Buckley) Hudson, and their daughter (grand-daughter) Kate L. Hudson.
