Carol M Sather

Born and raised in the small farm town of Drayton, North Dakota, Carol was an accomplished clarinetist in her youth. One of her fondest early memories was traveling to Pasadena, California, to perform with her high school marching band in the famous Rose Parade—a thrilling adventure for a young girl from North Dakota.

Carol married Dr. Don Sather in Grafton, North Dakota, and they later relocated to the south suburbs of Chicago, where they raised their three children. There, Carol dedicated 27 years of service to the comptroller’s office at South Suburban College. Following her retirement in 1990, she and Don moved to their dream lake home in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Carol fully embraced lake living, spent her time volunteering at the local hospital, enjoyed playing the game of bridge, and loved entertaining a wide circle of friends.

In her later years, Carol moved to Florida, where she became an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan who never missed a game. Above all else, Carol cherished her family, always lighting up when reminiscing about their many shared adventures; she was just the most awesome wife, mom, grandma, sister and aunt. She will be fondly remembered for her profound kindness, strength, unwavering faith, and service to others.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don; her son, Ron; and her parents. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love and is survived by her son, Roger (Vicki); her daughter, Cheri; her sister, Lillian (Tom); her grandson, Maze; her granddaughters, Erica & Cathi; and her great-grandson, Connor. She is also survived by her niece, Julie (Paul J), her nephew, Doug (Donna), and many treasured great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family extends their deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Menorah Manor for their wonderful, compassionate care of Carol during her final years. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A Memorial service and interment will take place in North Dakota this August. In lieu of flowers, donations to Empath Hospice or Menorah Manor would be appreciated.
