She was born on August 17, 1945, in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. The daughter of Ray Calvin McDurmon of Paris, Tennessee, and Kathleen Ely McDurmon of Leeds, England. Ray was a PFC in the United States Army Air Corp at the time. Angie was the daughter of a British war bride with American citizenship at birth. The new family moved to the United States at wars end.
Angela graduated from Momence High School in Illinois where she met her future husband when they were both 15 years old. After high school, she worked at Bell Telephone and Baker & Taylor. She then entered nurses training at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, while her new husband served in the U.S. Army, Vietnam. She graduated from Union in 1969 and took the state nursing exam. She worked as a registered nurse in four different states for over 30 years in hospitals, a neurology clinic, an oncologist office, administering cancer drug trials, and in public health.
She married Ronald L. Longtin in Jackson, Tennessee, on November 25, 1967, and began a marriage of 56 years. They raised their family centered on faith, love, and commitment.
Angela is survived by her husband, two sons, a daughter, son-in-law, and two daughters-in-law: Michael Longtin and Tracie Russell of Cypress, Ray and Ana Longtin of Houston, and Emily and Sean Berman of Sugar Land. She is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, two nieces, a nephew, and six grandchildren: Sharon and Bill Wildman of Atlanta, Kate and Lee Wildman of Atlanta, Jesse and Jenny Valentine of Memphis, Matt, Brooke, and Lexie Longtin of Houston, and Aubrey, Camryn, and Alyse Berman of Sugar Land. She is preceded in death by one sister, Lesley Valentine of Memphis.
Angela was known for her gentle nature, love of family, and kindness to all. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford.
Immediately following, all are invited to a reception to be held in the event room at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions, may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, Texas Children’s Hospital, or for Masses.
