Anita Willene Dollar Guttenberger passed away peacefully January 18, 2022 at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Houston, Texas at the age of 83. Willene was born January 31, 1938 in Bay Minette, Alabama to Aubrey Watson Dollar and Yuma Fae O’Neal Bodie. She was preceded in death by Paul Ben Guttenberger, her cherished husband of 65 years. She is survived by siblings Chellette Ann Baker and Zona Jean Strebeck. She is survived by her children Randy Guttenberger, Rick Guttenberger, and Susie Edworthy, and her grandchildren, Stephen Edworthy, Celeste Risteski, Meredith O’Malley, Jake Edworthy, Eva Edworthy, Ben Guttenberger, Jon Guttenberger, Nic Guttenberger, Harry Guttenberger, Lucy Spaay, Jack Guttenberger, and nine great grandchildren. Willene graduated from Palacios High School in 1956 and proudly graduated from St. Edwards University in 1990, at the age of 52.
Willene was in health care administration in hospitals for several decades, then worked as a healthcare consultant for years. She understood this principle: “rules without a relationship leads to rebellion”. Therefore, Willene was known for her investment in people and managing efficiencies wherever she was engaged. Being in charge was never a challenge for her. One of the most unique characteristics was each of her family and anyone she came in contact with believed they had a special relationship with her. Jesus, family, church, missions and gospel music were precious to her. She set the bar on being a loving dedicated wife.
Upon retirement she expressed her creative side taking up the joy of quilting for many years.
