Arnold Tamez Alaniz

Arnold Alaniz of Sugar Land, Texas, was a hardworking and generous man who loved his family deeply. He married his high school sweetheart, Gloria, and together they shared nearly 60 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, and lasting memories.

Hard work was simply part of who Arnold was. As the owner of Arnold’s Auto Supply, he could often be found at the shop by six in the morning, preparing for the day ahead. That same energy followed him home. On weekends, he was often working in the yard, cleaning the pool, washing his cars, or finding something else that needed to be done. Arnold could never sit still for long—he was happiest when he was busy and caring for the people and things that mattered to him.

Arnold was the kind of person others could always count on. He was there for those who needed him, ready to lend a hand or simply be present when it mattered most. He worked hard, gave generously of himself, and took great pride in caring for the people he loved.

Family was at the heart of Arnold’s life. He shared a lifelong bond with his brothers, and their closeness meant a great deal to him. He was a devoted father and proud grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

A devoted Steelers fan, Arnold cheered for his team with the same loyalty and enthusiasm that were so much a part of who he was.

Arnold will be deeply missed, but his family will always remember his strength, his steady presence, and the comfort of knowing he was there for them. The love he gave so freely will remain with his family and all those whose lives he touched.

Arnold is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Alaniz; his two daughters, Laura Alaniz Elston and Stephanie Rubalcaba; his four grandchildren, Brittany Alaniz, Kaylyn Nunez, Wesley Rubalcaba, and Adriana Elston; his five great-grandchildren, Gabby Nunez, Kristian Nunez, Nicholas, Nunez, Alijah Rubalcaba and Evelia Rubalcaba; and his two brothers, Bert Alaniz and Homer Alaniz. He loved them deeply, and they will carry his memory with them always.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, on Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m.
