Born in Crosby, TX, on September 22, 1936, Betty lived a life marked by devotion to God and our Blessed Mother, dedication to family, and a steadfast work ethic. A gifted student, Betty graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School (Mustangs!) in Houston in 1954 as a National Honor Society member, ranking fifth in a graduating class of five-hundred students.
Following high school, Betty went to Business School and then started a 38-year career with Texaco, Inc. She retired as secretary to the Purchasing Department Manager. Betty was blessed with beautiful friendships she formed throughout her career, not just working but also socializing with her coworkers.
A short while after starting her career at Texaco, Betty met Rudy as they were both members of the Legion of Mary at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Houston. While Rudy went into the Air Force shortly after they started dating, Betty and Rudy continued to date for ten years until they were married on July 30, 1967.
Proud of her Czech, Dutch, and English heritage, Betty embraced the traditions of her family, especially her love for Czech kolaches. She also loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, sewing, and traveling- both camping and a few trips to Europe, as well as her daily calls with her daughter, Venetia.
Above all else, Betty dearly loved her family and her Lord. Her faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in her kindness, humility, generosity, and concern for others. Betty and Rudy were parishioners and founding members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Sugar Land, TX.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Claudie and Olen Dewees.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband of almost 59 years, Rudolph "Rudy" Julian; by her loving daughter, Venetia Boneno, and Venetia’s husband, Deacon Roger; grandson, Dominic Boneno and wife Dr. Alyssa; granddaughter, Mary Fugate and husband Ben, J.D.; brother, Walter L. Dewees and wife Verna; brother, Olen E. Dewees, Jr.; along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.
Though our hearts mourn her passing, we rejoice in the promise of the Resurrection and pray Betty has been welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
