Beverly Jane Poulos (96) of Sugar Land, Texas passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, of heart failure and dementia. Beverly was born in Chicago Illinois on the fourth day of December 1928, to Arthur and Genevieve (Sennese) Radtke. Her mother died when Beverly was 10 years old. Her sister Faith was only two at the time. Her father remarried, but Beverly spent most of her time with her mother’s family. She was very close to her mother’s four younger sisters and helped them take care of her maternal grandmother after her stroke. Later in life Beverly took care of her youngest aunt, Elsie Sennese, after all of Elsie’s sisters had passed away. Beverly was only 7 years younger than Elsie and she would say that Elsie was like her sister.
Beverly married Edward Brower on January 21, 1950. They had two girls, Sandra and Janet. Edward died suddenly in 1956, and the small family moved into her father’s home in Worth Illinois. After a short courtship, Beverly married Andrew Poulos on August 24, 1959, at her father’s house. Andrew was a widower with a young son, Steve. Two years later a son, Andrew, was added to the family. In 1962 the family moved to Houston Texas, where her sister and her sister’s family had moved to previously.
Beverly was a hard worker and began working as soon as she left high school and continued to work until she was 72 years old. She had various jobs, but her favorite job was working as a waitress for Mr. Steak restaurant. She made many lifelong friends there. She concluded her career at Fort Bend Independent School District where she worked in the school cafeteria.
Beverly loved to travel. She saw many parts of the United States attending the Fourth Marine conventions each summer with her husband. She was still taking road trips, mostly driving from Houston to Chicago, in her early eighties. Her favorite place was the beach, no matter what state it was in. She was amazing and drove her car until she was 92. Her other favorite thing to do after she retired was to attend the YMCA. She really enjoyed the monthly lunches and was in her element setting up the tables and preparing the relish trays.
Beverly loved the Lord and called on him multiple times a day to help her make it through the day. She looked forward to rejoining her family in heaven. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, nephews and many friends.
