It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carmen Jane (Yackle) West, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, at the age of 84. Born in Akron, Colorado, on June 22, 1939, to Virginia and Delman Yackle, Carmen was a beacon of love, imbued with a remarkable spirit of joy and resilience.
Carmen's early years in Colorado & Wyoming laid the foundation for a life characterized by adventure, warmth, and unwavering support for those she cherished. In the early 1960s, she embarked on a significant chapter of her life, moving to Texas with her five children. This daring move was a testament to her courageous and loving nature, always placing the well-being of her family at the forefront.
She is remembered with great affection by her children; Kathy (James) Burris, Peggy Crosley, Steve (Jaylynn) Gisi, Stephanie (Winston) deBlanc, and Joe (Karin) Gisi, her cherished 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Carmen is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, sister, and grandson Brandon Gisi.
Carmen's life was a tapestry of meaningful moments and simple pleasures. An avid reader and a passionate crafter, she became a leader for the Tuesday craft groups, spreading joy and creativity. Her love for stories was not confined to the pages of books, as she delighted in sharing tales and wisdom with anyone willing to listen. More than anything, Carmen was known for her unwavering support and love for her family, ensuring her presence was a constant source of encouragement at every game, recital, or ceremony.
Her legacy is one of unconditional love, unwavering support, and the importance of cherishing every moment with loved ones.
We invite family, friends, and others whose lives Carmen touched to join us in celebrating her remarkable life on Friday, May 3rd, at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford. Family visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m.
