Celeste was born on March 6, 1947 in New York City, the daughter of Fabio and Erminia Ognibene. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1964 and attended Beauty School after graduation. She worked in a salon for several years and spent the bulk of her career as an administrative assistant working at G.E. and All Saints Episcopal church. She was married for 21 years to Ralph Good Jr. until his passing in 1998.
Although Celeste moved to Houston from NYC in 1970, she never lost her New York accent. She was a tried-and-true Sicilian in every possible way. Her red sauce and meatballs could give any famous Italian chef a run for their money. Celeste always made sure you left her presence filled with happiness, laughter and food (whether you were hungry or not). Her magnetic personality and incredible sense of humor was undeniable. Celeste had a heart of gold, displayed by her willingness to open her home to anyone and everyone.
Over the past few years Celeste faced many challenges with her health, gracefully and without fear. She was a faithful woman who loved God, her family, church, and community. She drew strength from her devotion to the Lord. Her courage was inspirational. Celeste, truly a one-of-a-kind gem, will be immensely missed by every single person who knew her. She wasn’t just a mother to her children; she was a mother to all. Although she is no longer here, she left a mark on this world that can never be erased.
Celeste is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Good Jr., her father and mother, Fabio and Erminia Ognibene, as well as her sisters Sebastiana “Annette” Bastianos and Maria Christina “Tina” Farina. She is survived by her children Kim Dantimo, Greg Ayers and his wife Michelle, and Mindy Good-Paul and her husband Rick; grandchildren Stephanie Dantimo, Sean Dantimo, Ashton Jimenez and her husband Raul, and Isaac Paul; as well as countless other friends and family.
