Born in 1931 in the Philippines, Clara grew up during the challenging times of World War II. Her talents, resilience, and determination were evident early on as she excelled musically and academically, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the prestigious University of the Philippines.
After college, Clara continued to work for the government while simultaneously running various side businesses, including selling Tupperware, BeautiFont cosmetics, and balut to her officemates. Her entrepreneurial spirit was driven by her deep commitment to her growing family, guiding them through periods of both hardship and incremental success.
In 1975, she realized her dream of bringing her entire family to America, a country she held dear in her heart. She fondly remembered the American GIs who had liberated the Philippines, and she frequently expressed her gratitude for the freedoms and opportunities that America provided to her and her growing family. Clara loved America like a true patriot.
A devout Catholic, Clara cherished her faith deeply, never missing Sunday Mass unless necessary. One of her favorite activities while traveling was to attend mass in new Catholic churches, where she believed praying for three "wishes" would see them fulfilled.
Her favorite activities included playing piano, hosting big parties for family and friends, solving crossword puzzles, gardening, tending to her roses, her favorite flower, and of course, madjong and casino. Clara always had a smile for everyone she met.
Clara leaves behind a loving legacy that includes her seven children, fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sister Rosa, extended family members, in-laws, loving friends, and special volunteers. Her spirit, love, and memories will forever remain in our hearts and be cherished by all who knew her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace with God and those who have passed before.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m., immediately followed by a service.
