Colleen Lindsey White

COLLEEN (LINDSEY) WHITE, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Monday, the 21st of June at the age of 84. She departed this life peacefully in her sleep with a smile, as she was greeted by God’s good grace and her darling Junior’s smiling face. Colleen was one of 4 children born to Arthur and Lillie Lindsey on June 18, 1926, in Shongaloo, LA, where she grew into a beautiful woman and graduated from Shongaloo High School. It was there that she met and later married, Jessie “J.R.” White or Junior as she would fondly call him. They married on March 11, 1944 in Springhill, LA. Colleen took a part-time job at Randall’s Food Store, which quickly became a career as she was a highly recognized employee, winning numerous awards including employee of the year. She retired from Randall’s twenty-six years later as Manager of the Health and Beauty Department. Preceded in death by six days earlier, Junior, her husband of 66 years. Also preceding her in death are her parents and two older brothers; Morris and Col. Marvin Lindsey. Colleen is survived by a younger brother, James Marlon Lindsey of Magnolia, TX; son, Wyman R. White of Antioch, CA; two grandchildren, Ronnie White of Manvel, TX, and Andrea Reed of Sanford, MI; six great-grandchildren, Justin and Lindsey White of Houston, Darren, Ashley and Shane Yzquierdo of Mesa, AZ, and Bruce Reed III of Sanford, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. A viewing will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Thursday, June 24, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, June 25, 2010. Both will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, 2223 FM 1092 Missouri City, TX. She will be laid to rest next to Junior in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Shongaloo, LA, on Saturday June 26, 2010 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her abounding love of family, friends, and church.
