Con Singleton III

Con Singleton III, age 64, died on March 19, 2011 at his brother’s home in Meadows Place, TX after a 22 month struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. Con served four years active duty in the US Navy, most of which was spent as part of the flight deck crew on the USS Kitty Hawk in the Tonkin Gulf off the coast of Viet Nam. Con worked briefly in several jobs as a young man including a short stint as a Methodist minister in Bedias, TX. His profession during most of his young adulthood was as a corrosion control specialist in oilfield related areas. Although a certified commercial diver, he never worked in this profession. In his early 40’s, Con decided to pursue his lifelong dream with a career in aviation. He obtained all of his pilot ratings including Airline Transport Pilot and slowly worked his way up this career path until he became an air ambulance pilot. He loved this work so much that he never pursued higher, more lucrative piloting positions. Con was a passionate outdoorsman and enjoyed such outdoor activities as fly fishing, camping, hiking, shooting, skiing, bow hunting for elk, scuba diving and other activities in nature and especially in the Rocky Mountains. Con was an avid reader with eclectic literary tastes. He loved cats and rescued many strayed and injured cats. Con was born on July 2, 1946 to Con Singleton Jr. and Flossie Odessa Lakey Singleton. Con is survived by a son, Raymond Dewayne Druschke; daughter-in-law, Toni Jo Druschke; grandchildren, Andrew, Montana, and Colt of Diana, TX; brother, Michael Wayne Singleton of Meadows Place, TX; sister-in-law, Connie Singleton of Meadows Place, TX; brother, Charles David Singleton of Granite Shoals, TX; nephew, Joshua Wayne Singleton and wife, Tyra Hill Singleton of Conroe, TX; and niece, Monica May Singleton Williams and husband Clay Williams, and children, James, Kassandra, Luciano, and Maggie of Rockport, TX. Mike and Connie would like to thank everyone at the VA Medical Center, Sto Nino Home Health, Silverado Hospice for their wonderful care of Con. We would especially like to thank Caryn Jaetzold for her loving care of Con and help and concern for us during his illness. A Memorial Service was held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Sugar Grove Church of Christ, 11600 W. Airport Blvd., Stafford.
