

Deborah Kay Elkins Ward, born on March 5, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, passed away on September 29, 2025, at the age of 75. A resident of Missouri City, Texas, Deborah was known for her selfless, compassionate, and kind-hearted nature.
Deborah grew up in a large family with three brothers and two sisters. Her early years were spent in Dallas before moving to Lewisville, Texas. She graduated from high school in 1968 and pursued higher education at Dallas Baptist College, where she met her husband, Mark.They were married in 1971 while still in college. She went on to get her Master's Degree in Education at University of North Texas.
In her professional life, Deborah dedicated many years to teaching second grade elementary, impacting the lives of countless young students with her nurturing spirit.
She was a dedicated advocate for her daughter. Deborah was known being a Mama Bear and protecting the rights of her daughter. She obtained many services such as speech therapy and made sure her daughter learned how to read and write.
In her younger years, Deborah enjoyed reading, cooking, and sewing, often making her own clothes until she became a full-time mother. Her commitment to family and community was evident in her role as President of the Greater Houston Chapter of the Autism Society of America, where she tirelessly worked to support others.
Deborah's legacy is marked by her willingness to help other parents in difficult situations, offering guidance and support whenever needed.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Earl and Ova Mae Elkins, her sister Zell Graham, and her brothers, Charlie Elkins, Billy Earl Elkins, and Donald Elkins. She's survived by her Husband Mark, daughter, Emily, son, Patrick and his children, Conner and Samarrah, and her sister Armenda Ward.
Deborah had an abiding faith in God and Jesus. We go forward in the knowledge that she is with loved ones who have gone before, and in the knowledge that in the fullness of time, she will be joined by those left behind.
Deborah Kay Elkins Ward will be remembered for her dedication to family, her passion for teaching, and her unwavering support of the community.
