Delia Garcia Puga, 91, of Houston, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her three children. She was one day shy of her 92nd birthday. Delia was born on September 12, 1934, in Big Spring, Texas. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1952. She married Joe Armendariz Puga on August 11, 1956, in Big Spring, Texas. They were happily married for over 67 years until Joe’s passing in 2023. Delia’s full-time occupation during the marriage was as a loyal wife and devoted mother to two sons and one daughter for her entire life.
Delia moved to Houston, Texas, in the fall of 1988 with her husband and two youngest children. She was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land, Texas. She loved watching sports like baseball, football, and basketball. She was a loyal fan of the Houston Astros, Rockets, and Dallas Cowboys. However, her favorite professional athletes were Stephen Curry and Patrick Mahomes. The last three years she enjoyed and spent a lot of time watching the QVC channel. Her favorite QVC personalities were Amy Stran and David Venable. Her favorite QVC show was called In the Kitchen with David.
Survivors include one daughter, Belinda Puga of Houston; two sons, Joe Puga Jr. of Houston, and Roy Puga of Orange County, California; two grandchildren, Alexis Puga of Pearland, and Sunshine Puga of Houston. As mentioned, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe Armendariz Puga in January 2023.
A visitation will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home, 12555 South Kirkwood Road in Stafford, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd. in Sugar Land, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via funeral procession to Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston.
