Domingo De La Cruz, Sr. age 74, of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022 in Katy, Texas of natural causes. Domingo was born on February 1, 1948. He is survived by his children, Sylvia Bunch, Sonia Maldonado, Monica De La Cruz and Domingo De La Cruz, Jr. He was a son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Domingo will be remembered as a very exceptional person and always had a joke to make you smile.
He was the son of Porfirio De La Cruz and Maria Valdez.
Domingo was raised with 6 brothers and 6 sisters. He had 3 older siblings Ramon De La Cruz, Angelita Granados, Olga Flores and 6 younger siblings Pedro De La Cruz, Irma Garcia, Roel De La Cruz, Ernestina De La Cruz, Porfirio De La Cruz, Jr., Javier De La Cruz, Armando De La Cruz, Dalia Salinas and San Juanita Cobos. Domingo was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
Domingo worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Domingo was blessed with 4 children, three daughters, Sylvia Bunch, Sonia Maldonado and Monica De La Cruz and one son, Domingo De La Cruz, Jr. Another blessing for Domingo was the gift of 13 grandchildren, Stephanie, Micheal, Gilbert, Jesse, Joseph, Marcy, Jessica, Christopher, Jackie, Isabelle, Victoria, Patricia and Christina. Domingo has 16 great-grandchildren, (Stephanie) Joseph and Jasmine (Marcy) Nathan, Gracie and Luna (Jackie) Hailey, Natalie and Alejandro (Chris) Xavier and Chris, Jr. (Victoria) Maia and Elianna (Isabelle) Daryk and Nonnies (Patricia) Theo (Christina) Valerie.
Fortunately, Domingo enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Domingo worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He was a Dog Groomer since 1970. He started grooming his Captain’s dog in the service. Domingo always did what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Domingo was an Army Veteran. He was in C troop 4th Squadron 7th Calvary. Domingo served in Korea for 2 yrs. Through his hard work, he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He received several awards recognizing him for his service, including a Presidential Unit Citation and Garry Omen award. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
Domingo enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Domingo loved to play bingo and slot machines. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Simply stated, Domingo was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Domingo leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Domingo De La Cruz.
He will greatly be missed.
