

Edward Phillip Thurman passed into the arms of God on Sunday, September 11, 2016. Ed was born on November 29, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Mary and Archie Thurman. He had two older brothers; Tom Thurman and Fred "Dink" Thurman. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Ed grew up with a strong love for the Church. He and his brothers were active in the choir and were altar servers during their youth. Ed also loved to play basketball through high school and as a young adult, his passion turned to golf. He continued playing golf throughout his adult life.
Ed loved his country and served in the Army. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and received the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and the Good Conduct Medal (Rifle) Marksman. He was an active member of the American Legion.
After the Army, he traveled to California, where he met his future wife, Sue. He followed her down to Texas and they were married in Ammannsville, Texas on February 27, 1960. They were married for 56 years.
Ed was a devoted Roman Catholic his entire life. He never missed a mass or Holy Day. He prayed each moring for 3 hours. He always prayed for the sick, those nearing death, the lonely in nursing homes, and poor souls in purgurtory.
Ed is survied by his wife, Gladys "Sue" Kaluza Thurman. And 4 beloved daughters; Jacki Mikel and husband Ernest, Janet Littlefield, Gina Thurman, and Gayle Randall and her husband George. Grandchildren: Shannon Risner, Keith Risner, Joshua Littlefield and wife Jennifer, Dusty Mikel, Joey Mikel, and Amy Mikel, Sarah Randall and Matthew Randall. And Great Grandchildren: Michaela Risner, Kolby Risner, Dominik Perez, Aiden Perez, Nathan Perez, Alexa Perez, and Jackson Littlefield and Nathan Littlefield.
