

Elvia Contreras was born and raised in Juticalpa, Olancho in Honduras. Elvia was an excellent mother of four; Fanny, Yasmira, Gabriela, and Oscar, a devoted wife to Oscar Rafael Contreras, and Loving daughter to Juan and Maria Garcia Lobo. She was an inspiration to her siblings; Maria Elena, Jose, Manuel, Angel, Trinidad and Dolores Garcia Lobo. She became a teacher at age 18 worked for a few years and then became a social worker in Honduras. After losing 3 of her children in a car accident, her life changed dramatically. She let God take control of her life and learned to trust in him. Five years after losing her children, she lost her husband as well. Now with only her daughter, Yasmira, at her side, they both agreed on moving to live with her daughter and husband, Jet, in New Orleans, Louisiana . A few years later, Jet and Yasmira gave Elvia her first granddaughter, Gabriela (named after her deceased daughter), and a couple years later they gave her a second granddaughter, Fanny (named after her deceased daughter). with the granddaughters and step grandsons, Jet Jr, and Shane Towns, her life was brighter and full of happiness and love. Elvia worked at Hispanic Apostolate in New Orleans for several years. Then moved to Texas with her family. She retired and enjoyed staying at home and caring for and playing with her great granddaughter, Harlow. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. She battled it for almost two years and finally the night of July 24, 2017, her suffering ended and she went to join the rest of her family in heaven.
