Filemon P. Mordeno, 97, went to be with the Lord on June 14, 2018 in Richmond, Texas. He was born on March 3, 1921 in Agusan del Sur, Philippines to Alejandro and Juana Mordeno. After he graduated in high school he participated in Second World War Operation against the Japanese. He was a Duty Sergeant in 3rd Battalion HQ, 3rd Battalion, 130th Infantry. He served 3 years, 4 months and 3 days no contact with his family. He also received assignment as the Chief of Coding and Decoding and work together with Lianga Radio Station for Mindanao, regarding military confidential movements during the war. After the war he worked and retired at Southern Agusan Agricultural College as supply officer. On 1993, he took oath as American citizen in Manila for his military service during the 2nd World War and left the Philippines and resided in San Francisco, California, serving as the president of 100 Filipino veterans community.
On December 24, 1953 he married Mercedes Curato Mordeno which lasted for 65 years and have ten children, Elsa Fabillion, Flora Benigay, Florencio Mordeno, Edna Santos, Celienda Tanega, Florcito Mordeno, Floro Mordeno, Gemma Floro, Nena Evangelista, Claro Mordeno. He was an affectionate and admiring father and grandfather to his 33 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings.
Visitation will be held at Earthman Southwest Funeral, Stafford, Texas on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 5 to 8pm. Memorial service will be held at Sugar Grove Church from 8:30-11am on Friday,
June 22, 2018 followed by funeral services at National Cemetery Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, Texas.
