Frank Massad, Jr. was called home to be with his Savior and Lord on August 15, 2017. He was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on June 9, 1923 to N.S. and Hazel Massad. After creating treasured and formative childhood memories in Oklahoma, the tight knit Massad family moved to Tyler, Texas where Frank attended high school and college. Frank was a trusted and loyal friend to everyone he met. Within moments, Frank would transform a complete stranger into a dear friend. There is an endless list of Frank’s acts of kindness and generosity. Frank demonstrated his commitment to others by proudly enlisting in the U.S. Army to ensure that our precious American freedoms remained secure. His passion and bravery were honored with a Bronze Star for Heroism. Frank served in the famed 86th Infantry Division, also called the “Blackhawk Division” known for their acts of courage across the globe. After returning home, Frank met the love of his life, JoAnn Jamail, whom he loved with his heart and soul. In 1955, Frank and JoAnn were married in Houston. Frank and JoAnn touched the lives of everyone they met through the strength of their love for each other and our Lord. They shared and cherished each moment of their 59 years of marriage, before JoAnn was received by our Lord in 2014. Frank followed in his father’s entrepreneurial footsteps when he opened Frank’s Menswear in the Palm Center shopping center. Frank treated each customer with warmth and respect, making them feel like they were at home with a trusted friend. Oshmans noticed how Frank treated his customers and rightly welcomed him to join their management team. Frank displayed intense loyalty and stayed with Oshmans until his retirement at the age of 80. “Mr. Frank” quickly became an icon at Oshman’s flagship location, personally serving the needs of Hakeem Olajuwan, John Wayne, and President George Bush (#41). Regardless of celebrity, Frank would always welcome new customers and create new friends. Frank is preceded in death by his loving wife, JoAnn Massad, his parents, N.S. and Hazel Massad, his brother, Joy Massad, and his sisters, Jean Massad and Jeri Massad. He is survived and was cared for by his loving and caring sister-in-law, Theresa Jamail, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and countless friends, each of which have been touched by his love. Frank’s family is very grateful to Sally Codlin, Claudette Hall, Gretel Bassell, Arlin Johnson, Mary Biloche, Vitas Hospice and Margaret Jamail for the compassion and support they showered upon Frank during his final years. Frank’s love will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial to Ladies Charity Club, 6450 Olympia, Houston, TX 77057 or a charity of your choice.
