Frederick Arthur Smith, Sr., was born on June 11, 1949. Frederick was the fifth of six siblings born to John T. Smith, II and Bennie Kelly Smith in Waco, Texas. Three siblings preceded him in death; Sydney S. Smith, Fredna A. Smith White, and Albert W. Smith. Frederick passed away peacefully on August 11, 2022.
He was sprinkled into the body of Christ at an early age at St. Paul A.M.E. church in Waco, Texas. As an adult, and during his illness, he kept his faith and belief in God.
He and Linda Kay Allen met, and married in 1987.
He was a sports enthusiast and Dallas Cowboys fan all his life. He finally adopted the Houston Texans and Astros as his favorite football and baseball teams when Houston became his permanent home. Frederick loved his family, old school music (Temptations, Chi-Lites, Four Tops, etc., etc.), entertaining friends, reading his daily newspapers, and taking care of his lawn.
Frederick worked for Texas Electric Service Company (now TXU) in Ft. Worth, Texas, and Houston Lighting and Power (now CenterPoint Energy), as a Meter Reader, Lineman, and Cable Installer. Frederick later started several businesses under his own name; as an independent trucker under FAS-L Trucking, and vehicle seller under FAS-L Auto Dealers, retiring in 2015.
Frederick leaves to cherish his life and memory: his wife, Linda; two sons, Frederick A. (Tara) Smith, Jr., Benny Shawn (Rosa) Smith; one grandson, Bryson (Shawn) Smith; one granddaughter, Audra Smith; one sister, Bennetta Vashon (Artie) Howlett; brother, John T. (Robbie) Smith, III; three godchildren, Kellye and Ymani Banks, and Jaa'Neal Tinker (whom he affectionately called his “girls”), a special sister-in-law, Evelynia Roberts, and a host of loving and caring nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
